This is what Acorn Club is being built to be. Not a private club—I’m skeptical of that framing for the same reasons most Oaklanders are—but genuine civic infrastructure that happens to be financially self-sustaining. A place that integrates wellness, work, food, community programming, and eventually childcare into a single historic building, held in trust for the long term, designed for people who live and work here to use most days rather than occasionally. The model is built around diversified revenue and frequency of use, not luxury pricing or exclusivity, because the whole point is that a place like this should be part of daily life, not a special occasion.
